Passport to Fun Offers a Preview of Not-to-Be Missed Movies This Summer
One of the best ways to cool down during hot summer evenings is to go to the movies. Members of Passport to Fun, a premier recreation and entertainment savings program offered by Adaptive Marketing LLC®, know that they can count on their money-saving benefits to get movie tickets for almost half the price.
The beginning of the summer came not only with sky-high temperatures, but also with the May 2 release (the official kick-off day for all summer movies) of "Iron Man," an action-packed film that has disappointed only a few demanding viewers. June has had its share of awaited releases, with titles like "Kung Fu Panda" (June 6), "The Incredible Hulk" (June 13), and the comedies "Get Smart" and "The Love Guru" (June 20), all flicks for different audiences.
As the heat rises with every day that goes by, so will the anticipation for movie lovers and summer blockbuster seekers. Here are some of the "cooler" entertainment choices for Americans this summer, listed here by AP9 PassportToFun:
-- "Wanted" (June 27): Russian director Timur Bekmambetow took this comic book series to the big screen, and the wait for its followers is finally over. Angelina Jolie is Fox, a sexy assassin who recruits the apathetic Wesley Gibson into The Fraternity, a secret society that trains him to avenge his father's death by unlocking his dormant powers. Wes is played by Scottish star James McAvoy, and Morgan Freeman is Sloan, head of this skilled group of assassins.
-- "Hancock" (July 2): Since it's the only movie to open this July 4th weekend, the pressure is on. People expect nothing but the best for this special holiday. This year, Smith plays a superhero in trouble with the people he's in fact supposed to help. He's basically an irresponsible superhero, and the public is fed up with his attitude. A civic lesson and a closer look at the world of PR and press stunts are part of the story, also starring Jason Bateman and Charlize Theron.
-- "The Dark Knight" (July 18): Any Batman movie is always highly anticipated, but this one has everyone counting the days. The Joker, Batman's archenemy, is creepier and crazier than ever in Christopher Nolan's second take on the life of Gotham City's hero. Christian Bale continues to prove why he was chosen to play Bruce Wayne and Batman himself, while the late Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker is, according to many, a masterpiece. Maggie Gyllenhall, Aaron Eckhart and Michael Cane complete the cast of one of the best movies of the summer.
-- "Space Chimps" (July 18): Children also have movie choices to enjoy in theatres this summer. The season started with "Kung Fu Panda" and "Wall-E," and it continues with this quirky animated story of Ham, the grandson of the first chimp astronaut. Ham is sent to space in order to rid a far-away planet of its wicked leader. Luna and Titan are the other two primates in charge of this dangerous mission.
In addition to savings on movie tickets, consumers can also enjoy savings on gift cards for major national entertainment retailers, restaurant meals, books and video games, theme park visits and much more as members of Passport to Fun.

Passport to Fun Gives Tips to Kids on Staying Safe This Summer
Passport to Fun (SM), a premier recreation and entertainment savings program offered by Adaptive Marketing LLC®, knows that summer is just around the corner. And that surely means plenty of outdoor fun for kids. Still, all that open-air activity can translate into exposure to dangerously hot temperatures, water safety hazards -- even trouble from pesky insects and other animal life.
And the same goes for all the "grown-up kids" out there; kids who understand that "Mother Nature" means business are largely influenced by their adult role models. Let the kids have fun, sure, but don't forget to tell them there's more to summertime safety than beating the heat.
It's like 20th-century essayist Russell Baker said, "Ah, summer. What power you have to make us suffer … and like it." With that in mind, PassportToFun suggests that striking the perfect balance of summertime fun and safety means helping kids better understand summertime's potential perils:
-- Don't flake out on me. All the sun worshipers out there (kids and adults) need to know the facts: Yeah, sun feels great, but between all that sunning, sweating and swimming, skin conditions like eczema (a.k.a. atopic dermatitis) can worsen during the summer months. It's cool to let kids catch the occasional "ray," but keep skin moisturizers on hand.
-- Make like Mae West. Busty film starlet Mae West may have lent her name to the life vests of yore, but when it comes to modern water safety, kids need U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets or personal flotation devices. IMPORTANT: Be sure to read the fine print on things like arm floaties and other swimming aids. They're designed to help kids learn how to swim -- to use their arms and legs -- not to keep them afloat.
-- Sport the right shades. For kids, image counts for just about everything, especially during the summer. That's why it's so important to help them find the right pair of sunglasses -- ones that will protect their eyes from the sun's damaging rays, while still offering them "the look" they want.
-- Dr. Doolittle never got the memo. There's no doubt that nature's creatures are a joy to behold. But Passport to Fun wants to reinforce a few facts: Deer carry ticks that can lead to Lyme Disease, wild animals are still … well … wild, and they don't understand it when kids just want to pet them. Oh, and bees and wasps can't be reasoned with. Teach kids the joys of summertime nature. Just make sure they understand the realities too.
So welcome summer 2008. Have a fun and safe time out there. And remember, no matter what the season, the never-ending quest to get more for less starts with Passport to Fun.

Passport to Fun Helps Provide Heart-felt, "Thank You" Gift Ideas for Teachers
Okay, pop quiz: "Where would we be without teachers?" Passport to Fun (SM), a premier recreation and entertainment savings program offered by Adaptive Marketing LLC®, knows that question has many different answers. And this May, teachers everywhere will be honored; May 6 is National Teacher Day.
All too often, teachers' efforts go largely unappreciated; we just expect them to educate, mentor and guide students, with little or no fanfare. And even though history suggests that the roots of National Teacher Day are unclear, one thing is certain: Everyone has had a teacher who made a difference, who made the seemingly impossible, more than possible. So isn't it time we gave them their proper due?
With that in mind, AP9 PassportToFun would like to recommend these great gift ideas to honor teachers on May 6:
-- Say so in a letter. A picture may say a thousand words, but for a teacher, a heartfelt note from a parent or student can last a lifetime. They say teachers often return to their "thank you" file when times get tough. Try to remember that when composing those well-chosen words of thanks.
-- Pick up the tab. All those hours spent correcting papers, teaching geometry and providing social guidance merit a great meal. Send that special teacher out for some special eats, or -- better yet -- surprise him/her with a home-cooked meal.
-- Read 'em and weep. No educator can resist a good read. So why not treat the teach to some great literature, a magazine subscription or a book on a favorite hobby or pastime? A gift certificate to a bookstore should offer plenty of freedom of choice.
-- That's the ticket. As resilient as they are, even a teacher needs a break from the daily grind. So give that special mentor and guide a different type of education -- an escapist one. Send them to a ball game, show or day spa -- anywhere where the lesson plan calls for just two things: Rest and relaxation.
-- Day by day. It's great to honor that special teacher on May 6, but there's no rule that says things have to -- or should -- stop there. Remember that a little encouragement goes a long way throughout the entire year -- especially for a teacher. Like someone once said, "All professionals can boast, but the teacher taught them all."
Don't forget to honor that special teacher on May 6. And in the meantime, no matter what time of year it is, there's always a way to have fun for less, courtesy of Passport to Fun.

AP9 PassportToFun Says Family Fun is Truly Affordable
Sometimes it seems like all the fun family activities always involve spending tons of money. Members of Passport to Fun (SM), a premier recreation and entertainment savings program offered by Adaptive Marketing LLC®, know that's simply not true. They can count on their benefits and savings to come up with creative ways to have fun as a family for hours on end.
The key word is creativity, notes Passport to Fun. Anyone can plan a whole afternoon or an entire weekend of entertaining games and activities for the family, no matter the age differences or the size of the group. The thing is, people have gotten so used to paying for everything, including entertainment, that they forget how to do it themselves in a simple, more affordable way.
Get your creative juices going, and start off with some of these ideas, brought to you by AP9 PassportToFun:
Board Game Day:
Any rainy Saturday or Sunday afternoon is ideal for playing lots of board games. Place three different games on three different corners of the house. Start early, and kick things off with some milk and cookies to get everyone excited. Go to the living room, and put a puzzle together as a start, then play Pictionary or Scrabble in the kitchen, and for the finale, let the kids rule in the Beat the Parents Family Trivia Game.
Write a play ... and act it out!:
Role-playing is one activity that everyone enjoys, and kids actually learn a lot by role-playing. It's a perfect activity when relatives are visiting -- the more people involved, the merrier. Split the whole family in two groups, then act the plays just like Broadway professionals. Let each group invent the argument of the play, or use a theme, such as: "Mom and Dad's wedding day" or "life when grandma and grandpa were kids," etc.
Free Day to Learn:
The major expense for this idea might be gas. Schedule a family outing to a nearby museum on a day when admission is free. (Many galleries, museums, zoos and aquariums have a special day of the week when admission is either discounted or free.) Seize the chance to take the whole family, and make it a fun and learning day. Pack sandwiches and refreshments to keep costs to a minimum.
Show and Tell:
Reverse the roles, and make the kids the spectators. Include aunts and uncles, Grandma, Grandpa, other relatives, or even neighbors specially invited for the occasion. Adults can make it fun for kids if they tell funny stories or tales of their youth or times when their parents were little. Use pictures or homemade movies to make your presentation more enticing.
When it comes to quality time with loved ones, money isn't important. With ideas like the ones included here and many more you can plan together, family recreation won't push you into bankruptcy, reports Passport to Fun.

Passport to Fun Says, “Get a Jump on Spring”
Passport to Fun (SM), a premier recreation and entertainment savings program offered by Adaptive Marketing LLC®, says it’ll soon be time to shake out those legs and exercise with the family. As temperatures rise and daylight hours get longer, AP9*PassportToFun reminds everyone that the hibernation period will soon be over; spring 2008 is fast approaching.
As the buds on the trees start to open and the flowers begin blooming, why not make exercise another rite of spring this year? Think of it … wouldn’t it be a kick to send Old Man Winter packing ahead of schedule? Now, with Passport to Fun’s following list of exercise tips, the whole family can get a jump on spring:
-- Walk the walk. Walking is not only good exercise; it can be a reminder that better weather will be coming. Just like humorist Doug Larson said, “Spring is when you feel like whistling even with a shoe full of slush.”
-- Seek and ye shall find. Most kids love hide-and-seek, so make it a point to join your kids in a game or two. Whether inside or outside, a well-played hide-and-seek game may just be the perfect way to kick-start spring — and help get the blood moving, too.
-- Hit the beach. Walking or running on the beach can make for a great family activity. Just wait for that first warm day, and plan to pull out all the stops: Bring along everyone and everything — kids, pets, and, of course, a sense of fun. As actor/comic Robin Williams once said, “Spring is nature's way of saying, ‘Let's party!’"
-- Bicycle races are coming. Maybe rock-opera pioneer Freddy Mercury had it right when he wrote, “Bicycle races are coming your way, so forget all your duties oh yeah!” And since exercise goes hand-in-hand with freedom and rebirth, rounding up the kids for a family bike ride just says “spring” all over.
-- Head for higher ground. Springtime dreams don’t have to wait, especially if the weather cooperates. That’s why making plans for a day hike can be a great way to exercise and watch spring “do its thing” at the same time. Whether kid or adult, heading outside to play is the first sure symptom of early spring fever. And planning to hit the hiking trails now — not later — is one surefire way to catch it. Don’t miss out.
Plan to spend time exercising and celebrating spring’s arrival with the family a little early this year. And remember, no matter what time of year it is, there’s always a way to have fun for less, courtesy of Passport to Fun.

Passport to Fun Plans to Get the New Year Started Right
Passport to Fun (SM), a premier recreation and entertainment savings program offered by Adaptive Marketing LLC®, knows what’s coming — 2008. And with the advent of the new calendar year comes the chance for new beginnings, promises and resolutions, and, of course, New Year’s Eve parties.
Now that the 2007 holiday season is in full swing, it pays to start making party plans as soon as possible. While spontaneity certainly has its place, establishing a solid idea for ringing out the old year and welcoming in the new probably requires some forethought — the kind that AP9 PassportToFun provides to its members throughout the entire year.
By the same token, though, and just as 18th-century Scottish poet Robert Burns once wrote, “The best-laid schemes o' mice an' men gang aft agely.” In other words, the most carefully calculated plans can still go awry. And that’s a big reason why Passport to Fun offers these right-on-time party planning ideas — to make that first chorus of “Auld Lang Syne” (coincidentally, also written by Burns in 1788) sound a whole lot sweeter come New Year’s Eve:
-- Bring out the buffet. AP9 PassportToFun suggests that New Year’s Eve isn’t the best night for a full-course meal. Instead, wow the guests with an array of pre-made finger foods and hors d’oeuvres — everything from assorted gourmet cheeses to mini quiches to shrimp treats. This way, no one will get stuck cooking once the party gets going.
-- Mix it up. There’s no need to have a fully stocked bar. Getting creative with drink options should fill the bill; consider serving beer, wine and pitchers of some great cocktail recipe. A new year calls for an experimental spirit. What’s to lose?
-- “… We DON’T interrupt this broadcast …”. Creating mix tapes and shuffling CDs is not only fun, it can also guarantee hours and hours of music. Another hassle-free musical option is finding a commercial-free satellite radio station. Either way, a constant playlist of tunes will keep the party going right up until what the late, great soul music legend “Wicked” Wilson Pickett called the “Midnight Hour.”
-- Don’t touch that dial. When the clock does strike midnight back in New York’s Times Square, that’s the queue to go wild. Have guests ready with the necessary props — funky hats and crazy noisemakers.
-- Make room at the inn. Just to be on the safe side, get ready to make up the couch or maybe even a spare room. Appointing a designated driver or two is also a solid idea. Remember, getting a new year off to a good start depends on everyone getting home safely.
No matter what time of year it is, there’s always a way to have fun for less, courtesy of Passport to Fun.

Passport to FunSM Offers a Preview of the Hottest Toys of the 2007 Holiday Season
When the leaves begin to turn color, it’s probably a good idea to at least start thinking about holiday shopping, reports Passport to Fun, a premier recreation and entertainment savings program offered by Adaptive Marketing LLC®. After all, the holiday season seems to kick off earlier and earlier every year, and no one wants to be left behind as the hottest toys and gadgets are swept off the shelves by ambitious (or, in the eyes of some people, obnoxious) pre-holiday-rush shoppers.
PassportToFun recognizes that holiday traditions are deeply rooted in almost every family across the United States, and one of those traditions involves holiday shopping. For some folks, getting an early jump on buying gifts is almost hard-coded in their DNA. For others, the holidays just wouldn’t feel right unless they waited until the last possible second to begin their shopping ritual, online or otherwise.
Unfortunately for many of those last-minute consumers, they usually need to complete the shopping equivalent of a Hail Mary pass to score the most popular gifts of the season. To offer them a few hints on what to look for if they happen to wander across a shopping opportunity before their appointed rounds, Passport to Fun takes a quick look at a few of the toys receiving the most attention early in the 2007 holiday season:
-- Nintendo Wii. Nintendo’s response to the Sony PlayStation 3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360 came out last year, but it’s still a hit among consumers. Affordably priced in the market, the motion-sensitive gameplay device of the Nintendo Wii allows users to get off the couch and get into the action with a wide variety of games that the whole family, kids and parents alike, will enjoy.
-- T.M.X. Elmo, T.M.X. Ernie and T.M.X. Cookie Monster. The “Tickle Me” line of toys has come out in its tenth version (hence the “X”) and shows no signs of losing its appeal among America’s kids. These new versions focus even more on the tickles, naturally, featuring almost uncontrollable laughter the more the fuzzy little creatures are tickled, making them an ideal gift for young ones who love to laugh along with things that laugh.
-- The Pleo Dinosaur — A Ugobe Life Form. Millions of years after their demise, dinosaurs still roam — and rule — the American toy industry landscape. The Pleo Dinosaur represents the latest evolution in toy dinosaurs, offering nearly 40 sensors and more than 100 specially designed gears that allow the Pleo to interact with its environment, seeing, hearing, sensing, feeling and even communicating with things — including other Pleos — in the area. Due to its advanced technology, the Pleo is targeted for children age 8 and older.
-- The Fisher-Price Digital Camera. For parents who are tired of entrusting their high-priced digital cameras to their children, Fisher-Price has a solution: The Kid-Tough™ Digital Camera, an affordable, working camera that can handle the clumsiness and carelessness that young children sometimes exhibit in their weaker moments (and plenty of others). Designed for kids as young as 3, the camera helps youngsters start honing their photography skills without causing parents conniptions when the camera inevitably bounces off the floor.
With the holiday season kicking into high gear, consumers can find plenty of ways to stretch their gift-buying budget with the savings available on home entertainment and amusements, gift cards, movie tickets and more from PassportToFun.

AP9 Passport to Fun Offers the Latest Word on Upcoming CD Releases
Even though the summer is already starting to wind down, the fun is only just beginning for music lovers. According to AP9 Passport to Fun, a premier entertainment savings program offered by Adaptive Marketing LLC®, there will be plenty of hip, new CD releases to choose from in the coming months.
Since there are several highly-anticipated albums that are expected to be released at the end of the summer, the transition into the fall season will be easier than usual this year -- for casual and die-hard music fans alike. Regardless of the genre, from alternative to rap, country to hard rock, there’s a new CD release for everybody. In fact, some of today’s most popular artists, from every corner of the music industry, are scheduled to release their latest albums in August and September, reports AP9 PassportToFun.
And with the help of AP9 Passport to Fun, members can add the hottest new albums to their CD collections -- for less! As the hits keep coming, there’s only one thing left to worry about -- finding enough room on your iPod. Here are some of the dates for the hottest new album releases (please note that release dates are subject to change without notice):
-- August 28: Ben Harper and Kanye West. Tuesday, August 28, is a big day in the world of music. Ben Harper, one of the most respected folk guitarists in the world, is scheduled to release his 11th album, “Lifelines.” Harper, who just finished his worldwide tour with Damian Marley, debuted at #7 on the Billboard charts in 2006 with his last album, “Both Sides of the Gun.” Meanwhile, hip-hop superstar Kanye West is also slated to drop his latest album that day. West, who emerged as one of the most popular artists in the world with his 2004 album, “The College Dropout,” is sticking with the college theme on his latest CD, “Graduation.”
-- September 4: 50 Cent. 50 Cent, arguably the most famous rapper on the planet today, will release his much-anticipated third studio album, “Curtis,” on Tuesday, September 4. According to 50 Cent himself, as well as several sources in the hip-hop industry, “Curtis” will be just as aggressive as his previous albums, “Get Rich or Die Tryin’” and “The Massacre.” The first single from the album, “Straight to the Ban,” was released in April of this year. Based on 50 Cent’s track record, expect the album to be a hit.
-- September 11: Ani DiFranco. Veteran guitarist, singer and songwriter Ani DiFranco is ready to release her much-anticipated 2007 album, “Canon.” DiFranco, who has released one album ever year since 1990, won Best Recording Package at the Grammy Awards in 2004 for her album “Evolve.” Thanks to her signature staccato style and tracks with strong political overtones featured on “Canon,” the sometimes-controversial DiFranco could make another run at music’s most prestigious prize.
-- September 18: James Blunt. Grammy-nominated singer James Blunt is scheduled to release his second studio album on Tuesday, September 18. The first single from the CD, titled “1973,” will be released in July. Blunt, who became the first British artist to top to the American singles chart in nearly ten years with his song “You’re Beautiful” in 2006, will stick to his trademark style -- a mix of acoustic guitar and pop -- on his newest album, “All the Lost Souls.”
With several excellent artists ready to release brand-new albums just around the corner, it’s a great time to be a music fan, concludes AP9 PassportToFun.

AP9 PassportToFun Says “Celebrate the Summer Swelter ... Just be Smart”
AP9 Passport to Fun, a premier recreation and entertainment savings program offered by Adaptive Marketing LLC®, wants its members to have a great time outdoors this summer. The folks at AP9 PassportToFun know, though, that for most of us, summer fun often means exposure to lots of heat and dangerously high temperatures. And that can mean trouble — especially during the dog days that will surely come later this summer.
When erstwhile British pop band Mungo Jerry released “In the Summertime,” in May 1970, they could not have known the impact they would have on the post-hippie music scene and again later on all of popular culture.
Given those now-famous lyrics: “In the summertime when the weather is high, you can stretch right up and touch the sky,” chances are they didn’t think that the seemingly happy-go-lucky, bubblegum ballad would ever lead to ad campaigns extolling the virtues of reliable automobile coolants, sunscreens with high protection factors (or SPFs), and awareness programs geared to recognize and fight back against heat-related maladies.
With that in mind, AP9 Passport to Fun suggests the following ways to “touch the summer sky,” while still keeping kids, adults and pets shielded from the harmful heat:
-- Name that swoon. Understanding the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke is key — especially when the “three h’s” (hazy, hot and humid) make the summer scene. To prevent both, fight back with another set of “h’s,” by staying hydrated, hiding from extreme heat, and hitting a pool, lake, ocean or river near you when possible. If heat stroke is suspected (when the body cannot cool itself off using the steps described above), call a doctor immediately.
-- Never my love. Here’s an easy one: Don’t ever leave a child, pet or elderly person in a car that’s sitting out in the hot summer sun. Not with the windows open, not for a minute and not ever. Enough said.
-- Don’t lose your cool. If you find yourself in very hot climes during the summer months, be smart. Cool your body off by spending some time in air conditioning, and don’t overexert yourself. If, for example, you enjoy outdoor exercise, do it very early in the morning or after sundown.
-- Chug-a-lug a lot o’ water. The human body is two-thirds water, so it needs to stay replenished at all costs — especially in the summer heat. Again, for kids, pets and especially older adults, take frequent water breaks.

AP9 Passport to Fun Pays Tribute to Pop with Pomp
AP9 PassportToFun, a premier recreation and entertainment savings program offered by Adaptive Marketing LLC®, offers members some ideas to honor, entertain and celebrate all the dads out there this June (June 17, to be exact).
The funny thing about dads is that we sometimes take them for granted, notes AP9 Passport to Fun. Sure, we listen to their advice and know that their wisdom and experience can help get us out of virtually any tough situation, but isn’t that what we have come to expect? After all, they are dads — paragons of responsibility, soothsayers on a variety of topics, and the embodiment of grace under pressure, all wrapped into one.
If you’re lucky enough to have a dad who’s still alive and well, AP9 PassportToFun offers these suggestions on how to treat him to a special day — just to remind him how truly valued he is:
-- Celebrate dad with a five-star meal. They say, “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure,” or something along those lines. Whatever the axiom, the same goes for food. Whether dad is a connoisseur of fine foods or more of a pizza-and-beer type of guy, treat him to a meal fit for a king on his terms.
-- Treat dad to a day on the links. As much fun as it can be, golf can also be a challenging game. If dad tends to play “flog” (that’s “golf” spelled backwards) more often than the standard game, take it easy on him out there. Remember: It’s his day.
-- Give dad a night at the opera, theater or movies. Dad doesn’t have to be a thespian to enjoy great entertainment. Give him an escapist evening of fun that combines all the power of a diva’s voice, the laughs of a clever bedroom farce and all the excitement associated with the silver screen. Call it a triple-decker entertainment dip — specially tailored to his personal tastes.
-- Don’t get another tie. Go off the board for the latest gadget or gizmo. Since dad is, well, “dad,” he’ll be happy with any gift he receives. Surprise him just the same, with some kind of cool state-of-the-art gimmick that’s right up his alley. From electronics to fishing equipment to food preparation gadgets of all shapes and sizes, dad will feel like a kid again with a “grown-up toy” of his own.
Once dad has officially been declared king on his annual big day, AP9 Passport to Fun is also standing by to give members great deals on entertainment, dining, books and movies. Find all these deals and more at AP9 Passport to Fun.

AP9 PassportToFun Helps you Map Out your Next Road Trip
Summer is the perfect season for families and friends to “start their engines” and hit the road for a wonderful road trip adventure. Members of AP9 PassportToFun, a premier recreation and entertainment savings program offered by Adaptive Marketing LLC®, know that they can count on their benefits and savings to make the trip less costly and just as fun.
Members can go online to access their money-saving benefits, such as gift cards for restaurants, retail and entertainment stores, and many others. The idea is to plan a family adventure that starts with great savings and ends up as an unforgettable time together. AP9 Passport to Fun also gives you some helpful hints for the road ahead:
AP9 PassportToFun says map it out:
- Don’t just hit the road. Map the trip from beginning to end, get travel guides, and learn what routes get you there faster and what stops you can make for sightseeing or simply to take a break.
- If the destination is a new one, use the Internet and a good map to trace local roads and learn about the surroundings. Get a clear idea of what stops you’ll be making, including the location of the hotels where you’ll be staying, and get cultural information about the area you’re visiting.
- If this is a trip you take with the family every year, make it a different one. Study the area in advance, and prepare a surprise detour so everyone can learn something new.
AP9 Passport to Fun advises to travel safely and affordably:
- Have your car inspected and serviced for fluid levels, filters, caps, hoses and belts. Make sure lights, signals, horn, radio and wiper blades are working perfectly.
- Verify that the spare tire is useable, and check and adjust the tire pressure. Do so every couple hundred of miles.
- Check the range of your cell phone signal, and get a charger for the car.
- Pay attention to signs on the road, and check the weather forecast each day and night.
- Have an emergency kit packed with a flashlight, waterproof matches and candles, whistle, a first-aid kit, a cutting device and a tool kit, among others.
- Search the web for gas calculators, and do some research about towns or places where you can find cheaper gas. While on the road, pull off at big cloverleaf exits, and shop around.
- Keep a cooler stocked with water and juices. Prepare sandwiches, and keep bags of snacks and fruits with you. Get off the main roads to find small shops and restaurants, which are usually more affordable and offer home cooking.
AP9 PassportToFun recommends supplying your own entertainment:
- Don’t rely only on DVD movies to keep children entertained. Learn about road trip games, bring along audio books (novels, kids’ tales, language lessons), and have fun together while everyone repeats new words or guesses what happens in the next chapter.
- Let the kids change seats every couple of hours, so everyone gets to look out the window. Let each one take at least one toy and some other items to use during the road.
Good planning is the key to a successful road trip, but the most important thing is to spend quality time with your loved ones, reports AP9 Passport to Fun.

AP9 PassportToFun Offers Consumers Tips for Keeping Kids Active While Having Fun
The subject seems to come up all too often these days, but child obesity continues to be a problem in the U.S. AP9 PassportToFun, a premier recreation and entertainment savings program offered by Adaptive Marketing LLC®, understands that kids need exercise — and, of course, fun.
AP9 Passport to Fun points to statistics indicating the large increase in child obesity. In short, kids who are overweight stay that way into adulthood — about 80% of them. This can not only lead to additional medical issues, such as general mobility problems and high blood pressure, but may also affect self-esteem. For parents and guardians alike, this is a problem that should not be ignored. And AP9 PassportToFun has some helpful exercise guidelines and tips to keep kids healthy and happy:
-- Remember when. It may seem like a long time ago, but being a kid can be, well, a pretty good time. Try to remember that when instructing kids on keeping in shape. Keeping active and healthy should equal keeping things fun.
-- Stretch out. It’s true that older muscles and sinews need more stretching, but young ones need it too. Make sure kids do some light stretching, such as jumping jacks, knee bending and running in place. It’ll prevent injury, and kids will respond best to parents and guardians who take a “do as I do” attitude.
-- Take the high road. Sure, it’s easier to ride the elevator than taking the stairs; to drive instead of walk; to watch TV rather than read a book. But kids need good role models. Show them how it’s done, and they’ll want to do what you do.
-- If at first you don’t succeed ... There is an old proverb that goes, “Patience is a virtue. Find it if you can….” It’s no secret that it can be tough to have patience with kids. If that happens, see point #1 on this list. Remember, kids not only want to have fun, they also want to have fun when adults are around. It may take a while to get a child involved in a regular exercise program, but once that happens, they’ll depend on it, just like they depend on parents and guardians for guidance.

AP9 PassportToFun Provides Tips for Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day
AP9 PassportToFun, a premier recreation and entertainment savings program offered by Adaptive Marketing LLC®, is looking ahead to St. Patrick’s Day on March 17. You know — that rowdy celebration of everything Irish —from corn beef and cabbage to green beer to parades to inspired folk dancing and a slew of fun events.
AP9 Passport to Fun understands this celebratory day wouldn’t be possible, of course, were it not for Saint Patrick himself. Believed to have lived as far back as the 4th century, Saint Patrick eventually became the national apostle of Ireland. Ironically, March 17 actually marks the date of his death in 460 A.D.
deIn addition to serving as a day of celebration for the green and gold, shamrocks and good luck, March 17 is also widely recognized as a traditional day for spiritual renewal. Legend has it that when the Irish people began to spread out around the world, they took both their history and celebrations along with them. In that same spirit, AP9 PassportToFun offers the following ideas and tips for a great day of celebrating — one that will have old Saint Patrick himself up and dancing in the streets:
-- Erin Go Bragh! Roughly translated, this popular Gaelic interjection means “Ireland forever!” With that in mind, deck yourself out in green, meet with friends, eat corn beef and cabbage, and drink green beer. You don’t have to be Irish to celebrate, but you do have to drink responsibly. St. Patrick would insist!
-- Hit the Road. Attend a parade to get into the spirit. More than 40 U.S. states feature large St. Patrick’s Day celebrations on or about March 17. Some U.S. cities even dye local rivers and streams green for the day!
-- Spin some Irish tunes. If you’re not familiar with any of the classics, just remember that renowned rock and roll acts like U2, Icicle Works and The Pogues all have Irish roots.
-- Run Leprechaun relay races. Here’s how:
1. Make a list of different Irish dance steps.
2. Choose up even sides, and place each group on opposite ends of the room.
3. Start the game by calling out a dance — then see who paid attention!
4. Have each contestant complete the dance moves while running from one end to the other and then tag the next person.

AP9 Passport to Fun Presents Tips on Planning a Child’s Birthday Party
Planning a child’s birthday party can be stressful. Just the thought of tons of kids running around and eating sweets like there is no tomorrow could be nerve-racking. But there is nothing to worry about. AP9 PassportToFun, a premier recreation and entertainment savings program offered by Adaptive Marketing LLC®, presents five tips to make your child’s birthday party a success without any complications.
According to AP9 Passport to Fun, a child’s birthday party can be as easy or complicated as one wants it to be. It shouldn’t be really expensive or focus on what the parents want. The golden rule in this situation is to make the birthday child feel special and make sure all their friends have fun.
AP9 Passport to Fun suggests the following tips to make child’s birthday party the best it can be:
-- Listen to what the child has to say. Sit down with your child first and find out what type of birthday party he or she wants. Let him or her decide on a theme, such as a favorite cartoon character, movie, sport or hobby. Write down all his or her ideas and execute them. The party is about him or her.
-- Determine number of guests ahead of time. Decide on the number of guests to invite and ask your child for assistance. It is always positive to have the child involved throughout the entire planning process. Mail invitations to guests – only if the child’s entire class is not invited and ask for an RSVP so you can keep track of the number of attendees.
-- Don’t do it alone. Find other people who can help during the birthday party. It’s not healthy to stress when you know that you simply can’t be in two places at the same time, such as cutting the cake and attending to the guests. Call upon a spouse, a friend, siblings, or one of the regular baby-sitters to lend a hand.
-- Keep it simple. Buy decorations at one place and keep the food uncomplicated. PassportToFun.com is an excellent place for members to go to look for party-related discounts at popular retail stores and restaurants. Children won’t notice if the decorations were bought at the most expensive store or at a local retailer.
-- Don’t forget the entertainment. Plan for more games than you think you’ll have time for. Younger kids tend to get bored easily and may take less time to complete a game then originally planned. Also, if the kids attending the party are under six years of age, organize non-competitive games since these types of games could have an adverse affect.
In addition to these tips, AP9 PassportToFun recommends parents to plan the birthday party at least a month in advance. Don’t wait until the week before the big day. By putting together a timeline with tasks to be accomplished each week, parents will be able to take a break from time to time. Most importantly, parents as well as their kids should have the energy and enthusiasm to enjoy the party. A birthday only comes once a year so parents shouldn’t miss the fun, concludes AP9 PassportToFun.

AP9 PassportToFun Suggests Scrapbooking to Capture Holiday Memories
The holidays…months of preparation for one or two glorious days only to have them come and go in what seems to be at the blink of an eye. Before one can process the events, family and friends have made their exits and what used to be the comforting hum of chatter and laughter throughout the house has been replaced by the average, everyday drone. Rather than allowing precious memories to simply slip away, holiday photographs and mementos can be easily assembled into a scrapbook – a perfect keepsake of the best of times. AP9 Passport to Fun, a discount membership program administered by Adaptive Marketing LLC®, provides creative ideas for putting together all those holiday mementos into in a special scrapbook to be shared for years to come.
AP9 Passport to Fun notes that as with any special occasion, it seems the host or hostess of the event is busy making everything just perfect. Cooking, baking, cleaning and decorating lends little time for socializing with their guests. And before they know it, their children are packing up vehicles to head back to college, friends are putting on their coats and relatives are passing out good-bye hugs and kisses. And many are left feeling it was just not enough time – another year come and gone. AP9 PassportToFun suggests that scrapbooks not only allow people to reflect fondly upon the past, but they also make great gifts to be passed on for generations.
AP9 PassportToFun can save members up to 20% on a plethora of entertainment choices for bringing the family and friends together, including movies, dining, travel, and shopping. Benefits can be easily accessed by logging on to PassportToFun.com.
AP9 PassportToFun offers these creative solutions for putting together a scrapbook that captures all those holiday memories.
-- Keep a paper trail. Holiday cards, postcards and even gift card stickers are easy pieces to include in an album. Pick out the cards given by people who matter most and design a theme page around each person -- including the card, pictures and a personal note about why that person is special. Don’t forget, if you have little ones, to create a page dedicated to “A Letter to Santa” or “A Letter from Santa.”
-- Think beyond photos. Items such as holiday napkins or doilies, place cards, celebratory horns, party hats, confetti, children’s drawings or coloring book pages or even recycled calendar pages can be mounted in a scrapbook with double-sided tape or acid-free glue. A collection of these can be applied as a fancy border or a colorful, interesting background for many of your pages.
-- Crop and trim. Local craft stores carry special scissors and cutting tools to trim photos. These tools can turn an ordinary picture into one that has rounded or fancy corners. Look for fun paper punches that create holiday-themed shapes like snowmen, holly, ornaments and even Christmas trees. Punching along a page makes a border and the punched-out shapes can be glued on other pages as accents.
-- Take one page at a time. Pouring through dozens of holiday photos can be overwhelming. Set realistic goals for designing a page or two at a time. Be selective with photos as only the best ones tell the most memorable stories. Less is more so consider using two to three pictures per page as other items described above will complement and fill each page.
A scrapbook is a great way to spend a night together as a family. Each family member can find their inner artist and contribute their own designs and written memories of holidays past. These scrapbook tips are presented by AP9 Passport to Fun.

2. November 2006 — Britney Spears and Kevin Federline cut the chord. It seems that Britney the pop diva is back on the free agent list. Britney gave birth to her second son in September, less than two months before her split with Federline, but it sounds like Kevin may want to keep playing dad.

AP9 PassportToFun Prepares Shoppers for the Upcoming Holiday Season
“Dashing through the snow on a one-horse open sleigh. Over the fields we go, laughing all the way!” Yes, ‘tis that magical time of year when retailers and toy stores send out thick catalogs filled with this season’s trendiest fashions, the latest high-tech gadgets, and the hottest toys for children of all ages. As stores, catalogers and Internet retailers prepare for the biggest shopping extravaganza of the year, so are AP9 Passport to Fun members. AP9 Passport to Fun, a leading membership discount program offered by Adaptive Marketing LLC®, offers members a wide variety of gift-giving ideas that will fit any budget as well as under the biggest of trees and inside the smallest of stockings.
While children write out their wish lists and adults plan out their holiday budgets, AP9 PassportToFun is gearing up to make sure that each program member’s holiday shopping experience is affordable, fun and full of good cheer. AP9 PassportToFun members can find savings for almost everything on their shopping list, from gifts to home décor, simply by logging on to DealPass – all in the comfort of their own home while roasting chestnuts on an open fire.
AP9 Passport to Fun offers a few ideas on how to help you plan for the upcoming holiday season.
-- Making a list and checking it twice. Does this sound familiar? Driving around in search of a parking place for 20 minutes, standing in lines that seem endless or finding the perfect gift for that hard-to-buy-for person only to discover it’s the wrong size. Before battling the shopping malls this holiday season, shoppers need to make sure they are properly armed and organized by creating a holiday checklist. First, write down all the items that need to be purchased, indicate color, make and model, size and budgeted price next to each item. Second, jot down the store where each item is available. By creating a checklist, consumers should find themselves completing their shopping in a timely manner while staying within their holiday budget.
-- Silver and Gold. Once the presents have been purchased, it is time to wrap them! It is a good idea to keep all the wrapping paper, tape, and scissors all together in an organizer. This way all the needed materials can be found in one place. Please also keep in mind that wrapping paper does not have to be expensive. Using plain paper and a rubber stamp for embellishment can make a present look like it was professionally wrapped, but at a fraction of the price. Plus, it is a fun project that kids can get involved in.
-- Deck the halls with boughs of holly. Not all of us get as carried away with outdoor holiday lighting as Chevy Chase did in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, but for those who enjoy adding a little sparkle to the neighborhood, be sure to buy lighting that is made for outdoor use. And remember to test and untangle the lights before hanging them.
-- The weather outside is frightful. By the time the holiday season arrives, much of the country is experiencing a drop in temperature. Take the time now to add to your holiday music, book, and movie collections, before they are sold out. Then get into the holiday spirit by roasting marshmallows by the fire, drinking a nice cup of hot cocoa and curling up with loved ones while listening to holiday tunes or watching a holiday classic on DVD.
In addition to offering discounts on gift cards for nationally-known retail stores across the country, AP9 PassportToFun also offers deeply discounted movie tickets, up to 15% off admissions to popular theme parks, 20% off gift cards for well-known restaurant chains and much more. Wishing everyone a happy and safe holiday season, concludes AP9 PassportToFun.

AP9 Passport to Fun Urges Hikers to Be Safe on Their Favorite Trails
Mountain vistas, colorful valleys and vibrant foliage can make a picturesque backdrop for an autumn hike. In order to prevent injury and a disappointing outing, both beginning and seasoned hikers need to be as prepared as possible before trekking out into the wilderness. AP9 Passport to Fun, a leading entertainment discount membership program offered by Adaptive Marketing LLC®, reminds hikers to pack the essentials and plan their day for an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
AP9 PassportToFun members enjoy significant savings of up to 20% at major entertainment retail and super stores, national movie theater chains, and nationally-known restaurants when they log on to DealPass.com. Saving is easy and convenient so that members can spend more time exploring the great outdoors.
Before setting out, AP9 PassportToFun recommends these tips for both novice and veteran hikers.
--Plan the hike ahead of time. Collect necessary maps, pack a compass, check the weather conditions and let someone know the departure and arrival times and the location of the hike.
--Don’t hike alone, particularly on challenging expeditions. All hikers should keep identification and emergency contact information on them at all times.
--Check all gear before leaving home.
--Hiking boots are the most appropriate footwear no matter how easy or difficult the trek. They prevent ankle injuries and keep feet dry. Some hikers prefer to wear two pairs of socks to prevent blisters; be sure to try on boots with the right socks to ensure a proper and comfortable fit.
--Pack plenty of water and snacks to maintain energy and alertness.
--A first-aid kit is a must. Remember to pack any relevant seasonal supplies like sunscreen and bug repellant or instant heat packs.
--Dress in appropriate clothing. Layers are best for cooler hikes. Moisture-wicking fabrics are preferred for both warm and cold weather adventures.
--Check with park rangers upon arrival for information on trail conditions, park closure times and weather forecast. Always stay on the trail.
--Remember to drink water and stretch before hiking. Start out slow and gradually increase pace and distance. The slowest hiker in the group should set the pace and determine the difficulty of the hike.
All hikers should use common sense and practice caution while hitting those trails and taking in the scenery. And members can look forward to other outings and entertainment when they return after a day in the woods by receiving their exclusive savings through AP9 Passport to Fun.

AP9 Passport to Fun Shares Easy Ideas for a Game-Winning Football Party
When the leaves change color, football fans know that their season has arrived. Although attending a college or professional football game is the ultimate experience, a theme party is the next best way to gather family and friends to cheer on their favorite team. AP9 Passport to Fun, a leading entertainment discount membership program offered by Adaptive Marketing LLC®, reports that a few creative tactics can liven up an afternoon-long salute to the pigskin.
AP9 Passport to Fun members enjoy significant savings on dining, movie tickets, amusement park passes and home entertainment when they log on to DealPass.com.
With these easy ideas for a football-themed party from AP9 Passport to Fun, that weekend or Monday night get-together will be far from a “personal foul.”
--Decorate to the max. Turn the family room into a college campus or stadium. Decorate with paper streamers, balloons and even cups and plates in team colors; look for football-themed decorations like mobiles and centerpieces. If available, hang up a treasured football jersey or display a favorite team’s helmet. Add a photograph or a plush version of team mascots.
--Keep guests stimulated. Any party can begin to slow down no matter how many guests stay for the long haul. Put together a stack of football trivia questions and answers or interesting facts about the sport before the party. If halftime seems to stall the party, try playing a few rounds of trivia to rejuvenate the celebration.
--Rah-Rah-Raffle it off. Door prizes are always a popular way to entertain and motivate guests to party. Drop names in a hat or make tickets to sell and give the proceeds to a local charity. Raffle prizes can be serious (like an official team jersey) or silly (like a toy or football).
--Gridiron goodies. The theme doesn’t have to end with the decorations. Traditional football food like hot dogs and sauerkraut, chili, nachos and grilled items are favorites of many fans. Try to include some lighter fare like vegetarian chili, tofu and veggie kabobs or grilled Portobello mushrooms. Look for a football-shaped cake mold; use green food dye to make “grass” to scatter around the cake.
A little creativity and preparation will kick off a football party to an exciting start. Budget-friendly discounts can make fall activities fun yet affordable through AP9 Passport to Fun.

AP9 Passport to Fun Offers Grandsons and Granddaughters Inexpensive, Useful Ideas for Grandparents Day Gifts
With Grandparents Day a couple of weeks away, members of AP9 Passport to Fun, a premier recreation and entertainment savings program offered by Adaptive Marketing LLC® and conveniently accessed through DealPass.com, will access their benefits to make sure they make grandma and/or grandpa feel as cherished as ever.
Grandparents Day is a national celebration, instituted in 1978 by President Jimmy Carter that falls every year on the first Sunday after Labor Day. Although grandparents, as well as moms, dads and children, should feel loved and appreciated every day of the year, the appointment of one specific day each year is a chance to go beyond the ordinary and do something special, to get a gift or to spend time together, anything that encourages a close relationship among generations within the family.
AP9 Passport to Fun benefits come in handy when thinking about things to do on Grandparents Day. The idea is to get a present that grandkids and grandparents can enjoy at the same time, so a day at the park, a visit to a family restaurant or an afternoon at the movie theater are always good options. AP9 Passport to Fun benefits allow members to save while doing these entertaining activities, and many more. It’s all about using your imagination and creativity! Here are some useful ideas:
--I teach you, you teach me. Just like traditions, grandparents can pass on a wealth of knowledge. At the same time, grandchildren belong to a new generation that has discovered new things, so they also have something new to share with their grandparents. To celebrate their special day, they can set up an afternoon of exchanging ideas so that each one can teach the other something new and exciting. Grandma can teach the girls how to bake a delicious pie, how to hem pants or do crotchet; the girls can teach Grandma how to send an email or surf the web or how to make a pretty card on the computer. The idea is to pick an activity that both generations can enjoy.
--Make a cardboard family tree. This is a fun activity that can take even more than a whole day! No matter what size your family is, grandparents and kids can have lots of fun and joyful moments working together on a chart of the family tree. Use pictures of relatives and all the colors of the box of crayons for the different branches. Kids can learn more about the history of their family, places where their relatives have lived or live that they’ve never been to before, etc. The grandkids can take care of the gluing and drawing, while Grandpa cuts pictures and Grandma remembers names.
--Just like a Broadway show. Grandpa and Grandma have a lot of family stories to tell, and grandkids usually crave those that involve their own parents. The whole family will have a blast if kids and grandparents put together a play, narrating a funny story that happened to Mom or Dad many years ago. They can put a script together and use old music and clothes to create the right atmosphere. Of course, the kids can represent their parents, and the grandparents can put together the story. At the end of the day, they can showcase the play to the whole family and even videotape it, so it becomes a new gem in the family treasure of memories.
--Say cheese. Grand
